Ouch!
Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans
Just as I was getting excited for my trip to the Italian Riviera to paint for 7 days, I broke my big toe!
At first I thought it was just badly bruised but when things didn’t improve after a week, I went into the local urgent care walk-in clinic (Penrith - I highly recommend it!)
They took an x-ray, and it showed that the end of my toe is definitely pointing in a weird direction.
I have to go to the Fracture Clinic next week to see if they want to do anything with it, and meantime I am taping it to another toe and walking very gingerly. Depending on the hospital verdict, I may have to cancel my trip. To be honest, I’m also a bit worried about how I’ll cope with the travel.
We’ll see.
The painting that landed on my toe was consigned to the bonfire, and I cheered when it started to burn. Good riddance!
In brighter news, my new series of paintings is coming along and I’m beginning to see a possible theme emerging. As always, it’s not the one I imagined when I started out. I planned dark colours, veils of grey, shards of bright colour peeping through… instead I seem to be getting vivid bright colours that zing off the canvas. I’ve learned that we can’t fight these things - the art knows what it wants to be.
I’ve also finished editing my next Artist’s Diary video, which I’ll send out later in the week. It’s the story of a painting that was almost fabulous…. almost :)

Oh no ! Hope the fracture clinic will get you sorted quickly. Must have been very gratifying chucking the offending painting onto the fire 🔥. At least it wasn’t one of your recently delivered blank canvases - I watched with some trepidation as you fought with the moving and unpacking of those ! Maybe you should start wearing those steel-toecap boots that construction workers wear, to save your poor toes from further damage 🤣
Glad to hear the new painting style is progressing well. Look forward to seeing it soon.
Well that truly sucks Louise! Hope you get some good news at the fracture clinic.🤞🏽Looking forward to seeing your progress on the new work.
